Every piece has been somewhere. We make sure it goes somewhere beautiful.— Hands That Restore · Atlanta, GA
Long COVID and a significant car accident took a great deal from me. The stamina to argue a case. The sharpness to read through a brief without losing the thread. The identity I had built, methodically, over decades of legal work. In my recovery, I discovered something I had not expected: that learning to accept limitations — truly accept them, not fight them — opened a door to a different kind of meaning. One I had never thought to look for.
This journey has given me the ability to make a difference with my mind and my hands. It began simply — searching for vintage furniture for our own home. Along the way, I came across two remarkable women, mothers who had built careers out of flipping furniture. Their kindness and extraordinary talent inspired me to jump in with both feet. What started as an additional layer of recovery became our shared adventure. As my husband and I became empty nesters, we discovered just how meaningful it is to spend that time together — searching Georgia and beyond for forgotten pieces waiting to be loved again.
That is the philosophy behind every piece Hands That Restore puts into the world. The kintsugi crack running through our mark is not decoration — it is the point. We do not hide the history. We honor it, finish it with care, and send it somewhere it will be loved. Whatever you have been through, there is resilience you can bring home.
